1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using the Alimio mobile application ("App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the App.

Sign-In Requirement

Alimio requires you to sign in using Apple Sign-In (iOS) or Google Sign-In (Android) to use the app. By signing in, you:

Consent to the collection and processing of data as described in our Privacy Policy
Consent to anonymous analytics data collection
Agree to these Terms of Service

We operate under EU GDPR rules and store your data in the European Union.

2. Description of Service

Alimio is an AI-powered food expiry tracking application that helps you:

Track food expiration dates
Reduce food waste
Generate recipes from your ingredients
Create shopping lists
Sync your data across devices via cloud backup
Share inventory with household members (Plus feature)
Receive optional sustainability tips via newsletter (with explicit opt-in)

3. Use License

Grant of License

We grant you a personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive, revocable license to use the App on your personal devices for non-commercial purposes only.

License Restrictions

You may not:

• Modify, reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App
• Use the App for commercial purposes
• Copy, distribute, or create derivative works
• Remove any proprietary notices or labels
• Use the App in any way that violates applicable laws or regulations

4. Subscription Terms

This section summarizes subscription basics. For complete details, see our Subscription Terms and in-app under Settings → Legal & Privacy.

Payment Terms

Billing: Pricing varies by region and plan (weekly, monthly, or yearly). Final price is displayed before purchase.
Payment Processing: Payment will be charged to your Apple ID or Google Play account upon confirmation of purchase
Subscription Management: We use RevenueCat to manage subscriptions and entitlements. Payments are processed by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play).
Currency: Your app store will show the final price in your local currency before purchase confirmation

Auto-Renewal

Automatic Renewal: Your subscription will automatically renew at the end of each billing period unless cancelled
Renewal Charge: Your account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period
Renewal Price: Renewal will be charged at the same price as your initial subscription unless we have notified you of a price change

Cancellation Policy

You can cancel your subscription anytime through your device's subscription settings:

iOS: Settings > [Your Name] > Subscriptions > Alimio
Android: Google Play Store > Menu > Subscriptions > Alimio

Cancellation Timing: To avoid being charged for the next period, cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period

Access After Cancellation: You will continue to have Plus access until the end of your current billing period

Restore Purchases: You can restore purchases from your device's subscription settings.

Refund Policy

App Store Refunds: Refunds for iOS purchases are handled by Apple according to their refund policy
Google Play Refunds: Refunds for Android purchases are handled by Google according to their refund policy
No Direct Refunds: We cannot directly issue refunds for purchases made through the app stores

Free Trials

Trial Period: A 30-day free trial is available on the monthly plan.
Trial Access: Full Plus access during trial.
Cancellation During Trial: Cancel anytime during trial without charge.
Trial Conversion: After the trial period, your subscription will automatically convert to a paid subscription unless cancelled.
Forfeiture: Any unused portion of a free trial is forfeited when you purchase a subscription.

Price Changes

Notice: We may change subscription prices with 30 days advance notice
Acceptance: Continued use after price change notification constitutes acceptance of the new price
Existing Subscriptions: Price changes will take effect at your next renewal after the notice period

5. User Responsibilities

You are responsible for:

Accuracy

Maintaining accurate food expiry dates and information

Food Safety

Verifying all food safety information and following proper food handling practices

Recipe Verification

Checking all AI-generated recipes for accuracy, safety, and suitability before use

Legal Compliance

Using the App in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations

Account Security

Maintaining the security of your device and any associated accounts

Household Content

Any content you share via Live Household Sync, including ensuring you have the right to share it

5.1 Live Household Sync Responsibilities

When using Live Household Sync, you are additionally responsible for:

Invite Codes: Only sharing household invite codes with people you trust and intend to share inventory with
Display Names: Choosing appropriate display names that don't impersonate others or violate anyone's rights
Shared Data: Understanding that food inventory data you add will be visible to all household members
Leaving Households: Leaving households you no longer wish to participate in
Creator Responsibilities: If you created the household, understanding that your Plus subscription status affects all members' ability to sync

6. AI-Generated Content Disclaimer

Nature of AI Content

All recipes in the App are generated by artificial intelligence. While we strive for accuracy, AI-generated content may contain errors, inaccuracies, or inappropriate suggestions.

User Verification Required

You must always verify:

• All ingredients and quantities
• Cooking instructions and techniques
• Food safety information
• Nutritional information
• Allergen warnings

No Warranties

AI-generated content (recipes, photo analysis) is provided "as-is" without any warranties. We do not guarantee:

• Accuracy of recipes or photo analysis results
• Correct identification of food items from photos
• Accurate expiry date extraction from packaging
• Taste or quality outcomes
• Nutritional values
• Calorie estimates
• Cooking times or temperatures

Photo Scan Disclaimer: The Photo Scan feature uses AI vision technology to analyse food packaging. Results may be inaccurate, incomplete, or wrong. You must verify all extracted information, especially expiry dates, before use.

7. Health and Medical Disclaimer

No Medical Advice

The App does not provide medical, nutritional, or health advice. Always consult qualified healthcare professionals for health-related decisions.

Allergies and Dietary Restrictions

You are solely responsible for:

• Identifying and avoiding allergens
• Managing dietary restrictions
• Checking ingredient safety
• Verifying food intolerances

Calorie Estimates

Calorie information is AI-estimated and for reference only. Do not use these values for medical or dietary planning.

8. Privacy and Data

8.1 Data Collection

Please refer to our Privacy Policy for information about how we collect, use, and protect your data.

8.2 Cloud Sync and Storage

• Your food inventory, preferences, and settings are synced to our secure cloud servers (Supabase, hosted in the EU)
• A local copy is also stored on your device for offline access
• By signing in, you consent to this cloud storage and synchronisation

8.3 Analytics Consent

By signing in to Alimio, you consent to the collection of anonymous analytics data as described in our Privacy Policy. This data helps us improve the app and does not identify you personally.

8.4 Cloud Processing

Recipe generation requests are processed through our secure cloud services.

9. Intellectual Property

App Ownership

The App and its original content, features, and functionality are owned by us and are protected by international copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.

User Content

You retain ownership of any content you input into the App, but grant us a license to process this data for providing our services.

Feedback

Any feedback, suggestions, or ideas you provide about the App become our property and may be used without compensation to you.

10. Third-Party Services

External Services

The App uses third-party services including:

• Supabase for user authentication, cloud database, and data sync (EU hosted)
• RevenueCat for subscription management
• Cloudflare Workers for AI recipe generation API and Live Household Sync
• OpenAI and OpenRouter for AI recipe generation
• Microsoft Azure AI Vision for cloud-based photo processing (AI Photo Scan feature)

Live Household Sync Service

When you use Live Household Sync, your food inventory data is synced via our Cloudflare Worker. Data is stored temporarily in Cloudflare KV storage:

• Household membership: Up to 1 year (refreshed on activity)
• Sync changes: Up to 14 days (automatically deleted after delivery)
• Invite codes: 7 days

Sync data is shared only with members of your household. We do not sell or share household data with third parties.

Photo Processing Service

When you use the Photo Scan feature, your photos are sent to Microsoft Azure AI Vision (hosted in Azure West Europe region, Netherlands) for analysis to identify food items and extract expiry dates. Microsoft Azure acts as our data processor under GDPR. Photos are processed transiently and are not stored or retained by us or Microsoft.

Accuracy Disclaimer

Third-party AI services (including photo analysis and recipe generation) may produce inaccurate, incomplete, or unsuitable results. You are responsible for verifying all information extracted from photos, including:

• Food item identification
• Expiry date recognition
• Product names and categories

AI Vision technology may misread dates, especially on damaged, unclear, or non-standard packaging. Always manually verify expiry dates before relying on them.

Third-Party Terms

Your use of third-party services is subject to their respective terms and privacy policies.

11. Limitation of Liability

Disclaimer

THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED.

Limitation

IN NO EVENT SHALL WE BE LIABLE FOR ANY DAMAGES ARISING FROM:

• Use or inability to use the App
• Food spoilage or waste
• Illness or allergic reactions
• Inaccurate recipes or information
• Incorrect expiry dates from Photo Scan feature
• Misidentified food items from photo analysis
• Loss of data
• Service interruptions
• Third-party service failures (including Azure AI Vision)

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for fraud, fraudulent misrepresentation, or for death or personal injury caused by negligence, and nothing affects your statutory rights.

Maximum Liability

OUR TOTAL LIABILITY SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID FOR THE APP IN THE PAST 12 MONTHS.

12. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold us harmless from any claims, losses, damages, liabilities, and expenses arising from:

• Your use of the App
• Your violation of these Terms
• Your violation of any third-party rights
• Any content you submit through the App

13. Termination

Termination by You

You may stop using the App at any time by uninstalling it from your device.

Termination by Us

We may terminate or suspend your access to the App immediately, without prior notice, for any reason, including:

• Breach of these Terms
• Fraudulent or illegal activity
• Technical or security reasons

Effect of Termination

Upon termination:

• Your license to use the App ends
• You must stop using the App
• Subscription refunds are subject to app store policies

14. Changes to Terms

Right to Modify

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time.

Notice of Changes

We will notify you of material changes through:

• In-app notifications
• App update descriptions
• Our website

Acceptance of Changes

Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the modified Terms.

15. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the United Kingdom, without regard to conflict of law principles. If you are a consumer resident in the UK or EEA, you may benefit from mandatory provisions of the law of your country of residence; this clause does not affect those protections.

16. Dispute Resolution

Informal Resolution

We encourage you to contact us first to resolve any disputes informally.

Binding Arbitration

If informal resolution fails, disputes may be resolved through binding arbitration under the Arbitration Act 1996 (UK) administered by a recognised UK arbitration body. This clause does not deprive you of any mandatory consumer protections or your right to bring claims in the courts of your country of residence where required by law. Claims may also be brought in small claims court where applicable.

18. Severability

These Terms constitute the entire agreement between you and us regarding the App and supersede all prior agreements and understandings.

20. Children's Use

The App is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.

By using Alimio, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms of Service.
